One challenge of todays network administrators is to control their firewall so users are not able to use instant messenger (IM) especially on corporate world. There are lots of threats found on this web application that makes user’s operating system to crash. Some organization didn’t allow this to be used on their workplace but there are Web IMs that can be used which you don’t need the software (e.g. Yahoo Messenger) to be installed.
SAPLPD Port
November 29, 2006
Once I’ve encounter problem on user having M$ Windows XP Professional SP2 with Firewall enabled that printing to SAPLPD is not possible. I remember, since SAPLPD request is from the SAP Server, TCP port needs to be opened on the firewall. I have researched on SAP’s documentation (TCP/IP Ports Used by SAP Applications) that SAPLPD uses TCP Port 515. I have added new TCP Port excemption for this and tried printing.
