Online Community Sites Increases
There is an indeed increase in number of Online Community Sites that is one of biggest challenge of corporate networks to controlling these from being accessed by their employees. There are firewall software that can filter these sites by creating a deny rule to block these websites. For beginners, they use to ask, what is an Online Community Site? It is a virtual community where people see their friends and other details that really the weakest point of a human being. It makes corporate internet bandwidth to be more utilized by a personal related website visits (eats money for nothing). Some sites like Friendster, MySpace, MSN, Tagged and many more. You can see some on Meez .
System Administrators must be more observant on these. Someday, you won’t notice, all users are now eating internet bandwidth for this nonesense activity. Update corporate policy and restrict your system.
Playing MP3 and VCD on Ubuntu
Ubuntu has its Restricted formats that by default, MP3 and VCD are not possible to play. It was indicated on their documentation about RestrictedFormats . At first I was disappointed but there is a solution for these file formats. I have seen a clip on UbuntuClips that you need to install easyUbuntu, it will automatically download the right software or codec for these media formats. One option that I did is I install XMMS player for MP3 and additional codec to support VCD.
